A prevalence survey may be conducted as a baseline, prior to establishing more coordinated responses.  For example, in 2009 the government of Chile commissioned the first national victimisation survey on domestic and sexual violence.  The survey, developed and implemented by a division of the Interior Ministry, is to be used as a baseline for monitoring and will be conducted periodically every four years.

In addition, coordination can be facilitated by collecting national statistics on violence against women and service mapping to obtain data on the administrative level of service provided to victims/survivors.
